On Maui, Hawaiian Islands.
At a black sand beach somewhere off the Road to Hana.
Walking on the black sand beach is very strange. It’s a beautiful sight and feels pretty much like “regular” sand. The strange part is when it’s time to wipe your feet off, you think you’ll be wiping off mud, but it doesn’t cake up or smear like mud. It is sand, after all.
I’m a bit of a geology nut and love to see things like this and get to know a little about the how’s and why’s behind a relative rarity like black sand.
