At Fort McHenry, Baltimore.
My wife, Jacquie, is a great fan of forts. She’s dragged me to several…sometimes kicking and screaming. But just about every time we visit one, I learn a great deal and get a chance to take some cool pictures. After a while, it seems that one can only take so many pictures of cannons and flags and bunkers and ramparts. But every now and then a cool new way to see old things comes into view.
That I think is one of life’s lessons that sometimes strikes me when taking pictures: Finding new ways to see the same old things — looking closely at a thing, or trying vantage points that you may not be naturally inclined to consider — usually yields something good (even if only in your own mind).
