Centuries-old houses have a beautiful, worn flair in the streets of downtown Savannah, near the river.  The layers of paint and masonry give the wood and brick a simultaneous “cracked-but-solid,” “past-and-present” kind of authenticity that just takes time to become ‘charming’ instead of ‘old.’  It is the oldest city in Georgia, after all, but it shows well.
