Short and Tall

Bosphorous Mosque and BridgeIn Istanbul, Turkey.

The Ortakoy Mosque with the Bosphorus Bridge.  Even from afar, it’s easy to see the intricate and detailed beauty of the relatively old (built in the 18th century) and small (compared to the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia) mosque.  An interesting contrast to the plain and simple utility of the relatively young (built in 1973) and large (22nd longest suspension bridge in the world) bridge.

Istanbul is an interesting city of contrasts and this juxtaposition of landmarks is perhaps no accident.
