IMG_4795At The Grand Canyon, Arizona.

Sunset shadows, tones, and sky at the incredibly impressive and awe-inspiring natural wonder.  Having taken this shot during our first visit to the canyon, I recall the number of times I would just stop, stand, and stare at the unbelievable majesty that is the product of the combined effects of the power of God and nature.  As much as I can do to understand the ways that physics, geology, time, and weather conspired (and continue to conspire) to create this awesome site, I always wonder if the hands of God use those very forces the way any great artist uses brushes, canvas, paint, stone, or chisels to create everlasting works of beauty.

“He who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead; his eyes are closed.”   Albert Einstein

“If you can’t be in awe of Mother Nature, there’s something wrong with you.”  Alex Trebek

  1. Hi Mark, I haven’t commented on your pics in awhile, but wanted to say how much I enjoy opening your e-mail to see a beautiful photo now and then. This one is spectacular, and one of my new favorites. I haven’t experienced the Grand Canyon for myself yet, but your picture does indeed remind me to stop and be of awe of His creation.
