39 Steps

Chc Art Institute Stairs Curves

In Chicago, Illinois.  At the Art Institute.

“The 39 Steps” is an early Hitchcock classic movie (released in 1935, though it was his 18th movie).  When I saw this photo, I immediately thought to call it 39 Steps, in honor of that film, and because the black-and-white harkens to that early era of moviemaking.

Then I thought, “I wonder how many steps there are in this shot,” and so I counted.

Guess what?

39 steps.

I wonder if they planned that.

  1. Very cool. And since you are so good with numbers, can you tell me how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
