A Proper Mask

In Mexico City, Mexico

At the National Museum of Anthropology, a fantastic place.

“All societies end up wearing masks.” –Jean Baudrillard

Used to be that when I thought of masks, I might imagine something as cool and wondrous as this. Or maybe a Halloween-type mask. Perhaps a Mardi Gras type mask. Sometimes the mask of a Lucha Libre wrestler. Often the splendor of the variety of masks found in African cultures.

Not so much anymore; not these days.
