In Washington, DC.
On the under-the-radar Theodore Roosevelt Island, on the Potomac River, this wooden walkway takes you over a swampy area through the woods. This island, known as Mason’s Island until the 1930’s, is home to the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial, built as a living memorial to the rugged outdoorsman Teddy.
If you want an off-the-beaten path kind of experience in and around DC, with few tourists, and are willing to make a little extra effort (though not much extra) to find the place, it’s worth a visit.
