In Washington, DC
“If we are to have peace on earth, our loyalties must become ecumenical rather than sectional. Our loyalties must transcend our race, our tribe, our class, and our nation; and this means we must develop a world perspective.” Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from a 1967 Christmas sermon on peace
Reminds me of a Mother Teresa saying: “If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.”
Let’s remember today, and always, our responsibility to each other. In my view, that is ultimately what Dr. King stood for.
Happy MLK Day.
