Rumeli Hisari

In Istanbul, Turkey

This is the Rumeli Hisari, a fortress on the Bosporus Strait. Also known as Bogazkesen Castle, which translates into something like “strait-blocker castle” or “throat-cutter castle,” it only took four months to build this stronghold. But it’s lasted for 570 years, built in 1452.
