Yesterday was the 85th anniversary of the official opening of the Golden Gate Bridge, when it opened to pedestrian traffic after nearly 4 and 1/2 years of construction. On today’s date, in 1937, it was opened to vehicular traffic. I hope I’m still standing proud and tall and still looking as good as this when I’m midway through my octogenarian decade.
