In Pacific Palisades, California
A hummingbird takes a seat on a catshead-adorned fountain in the East Garden at the Getty Villa, just east of Malibu. One of two campuses of the J. Paul Getty Museum, the villa is a replica of a Roman villa built in the 1950s and contains gallery spaces and gardens open to the public. The Getty Center campus of the museum is differently stunning and each is well worth the separate trips. Spectacular places to visit and stroll around — and both are free to visit (but parking is $20).
